Two Powerful Scotts Speak at Del. Keam's VAAPI Caucus Event in Alexandria
ALEXANDRIA, VA — House of Delegates Minority Leader Don Scott drove three hours north from Portsmouth to attend Virginia Asian American and Pacific Islander Caucus (VAAPIC) first in-person event in Northern Virginia since the caucus was established in 2021. The fundraiser, hosted by Del. Mark Keam, was attended by over 70 people including Virginia’s two powerful Scotts — Don Scott and Bobby Scott.
Congressman Bobby Scott, who Chairs the Education and Labor Committee in the U.S. House and has been moving millions to HBCUS from that position, also attended after the U.S. House finished a long set of evening votes.
Both Scotts spoke and Congressman Andy Kim was the keynote for the evening. VAAPIC noted in a statement promoting their event that the fundraiser held last night will assist the caucus in their policy research and briefing events.
The VAAPIC event was attended by several elected officials including State Sen. Ghazala Hashmi, Del. Suhas Subramanyam, Del. Kathy Tran and Del. Irene Shin.
Congressman Andy Kim was the keynote and gave a very pointed speech on the Asian American experience and some of the challenges he has had during his time at the State Department.
