Youngkin on Abortion and... a White House Run?
YOUNGKIN GOES NATIONAL. Who created Glenn Youngkin? Terry McAuliffe. After the former Governor lost to a political unknown and newcomer Glenn Youngkin in 2021, Democrats had an opportunity to codify abortion in the code of Virginia. Instead, the House of Delegates and Virginia Senate declined to take action — primarily because a Senator was on vacation.
Now, with Gov. Youngkin in control of the Governor’s Mansion in Virginia and a razor thin majority held by Democrats in the House of Delegates, Youngkin may have an opportunity fairly soon to pass an anti-abortion/pro-life bill. Democrats still control the Virginia Senate — but a pro-life Senate, Joe Morrissey, could make any abortion vote complicated in the Senate.
Today, during an interview on Face the Nation, Gov. Youngkin addressed abortion, possible plans to run for President in the coming years and other issues Virginians asked about.
Youngkin avoided saying Donald Trump’s name during the interview. That’s reminiscent of how he handled all of the Trump questions during the campaign. He also gave an interesting answer on abortion:
