After years of progress from Republican Governor Bob McDonnell and Democratic Governors Terry McAuliffe and Ralph Northam, Governor Glenn Youngkin has greatly slowed down the process of voting rights restoration in Virginia for former felons.
The office of the Secretary of the Commonwealth handles voting rights restoration requests. But under the current Secretary, Kay Coles James, there’s few details on basic information on how Gov. Youngkin’s administration processes restoration of rights and how many people they have actually approved for voting in the future.
