FIVE STANDOUTS AT THE VIRGINIA BLACK BUSINESS EXPO. The Virginia Black Business Directory put on their 4th Annual Black Business Expo in Fredericksburg, Virginia on August 12 and 13. The Saturday session of the expo packed the Fredericksburg Convention Center. There were food trucks, endless exhibits of all types of Black-owned businesses in Virginia and beyond, a gala and very good networking opportunities.
Though there were businesses at the expo from Atlanta and Philadelphia and elsewhere, all of the businesses highlighted below are based in Virginia.

The Virginia Black Business Directory is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization committed to amplifying the exposure of Black-owned businesses and advancing the economic development. Their mission is to “bridge the gap in wealth by fostering inclusion of Black-owned businesses owners in the community, connecting directory members to consumers through community collaboration, providing business education training and resource navigation to small businesses or aspiring entrepreneurs.”
FIVE STANDOUTS. There were many outstanding businesses at this year’s Black Business Expo in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
COLORS OF PIGGY is a compliment to the story, Pennies for Piggy that prompt children to use their imagination in a fun way that encourages financial literacy.

Picture Love Forever designs and prints photos and other images to display at special events. The owner, Alex Ball, has a great personality and a great business.
After a kitchen fire at their location at 1020 Hull Street in Richmond, Croaker’s Spot reopened in November 2021 re-opened. The popular Richmond restaurant also has a food truck. Thankfully that truck rolled an hour north on 95 down to Fredericksburg and was part of the food trucks parked outside the Virginia Black Business Expo. Croaker’s Spot has a location in Petersburg at 9 West Old Street.
Alejandro is a young entrepreneur who runs Smell of Love Candles and he was back again at the Expo this year. Alejandro also donates a portion of each month’s profits to charity. Alejandro is the founder of the YouTube channel: Lessons from a Kidpreneur, and shares his entrepreneurial journey on his podcast: Lessons from a Kidpreneur.
Price Blinds is a lovely blinds and window treatment company based in Virginia that has an impressive array of window treatments. Price Blinds services Stafford, Culpeper, Woodbridge, Dale City, Alexandria, Dumfries, Ruckerville (West Virginia), Charlottesville, Bremerton, King George, Richmond and beyond.
