DR. MARIE VALENTINE MCDEMMOND (1946–2022). Dr. Marie V. McDemmond passed away on July 27, 2022.

Dr. McDemmond was the third president of Norfolk State University and the first Black woman to serve as President of a four-year college in the history of the Commonwealth of Virginia. McDemmond served as president of Norfolk State University from 1997 to 2005. Below is a tribute video celebrating Dr. McDemmond’s life and work.
