Fox Elementary Set to Open This Fall After 2022 Fire

By Emma Beardsley for Richmond Capital News Service. After more than three years of reconstruction and relocation following a fire, William Fox Elementary School will reopen this Fall at its historic location on Hanover Avenue.

On Feb. 11, 2022, a fire ravaged the 111-year-old school in Richmond’s Fan District. Since then, Fox has undergone a $30 million reconstruction effort.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, but investigations found that the building had eight previously reported fire code violations.
