Norfolk: Sweet Jam Cafe
NORFOLK, VA — SOUL FOOD. We visited the Black owned restaurant Sweet Jam Cafe in Norfolk on Sept. 5. The southern cuisine and the service is great. We highly recommend the chicken and waffles. Sweet Jam Cafe is located at 1446A Church Street in Norfolk. Also: Enjoy the free wifi with an ice tea.
JD Spain Canvass Kickoff This Morning
ARLINGTON, VA — On the first Sunday of the 2024 NFL season there were other kickoffs — political ones — as a new set of polls out this morning appear to show that the race between Vice President Harris and former President Donald Trump is getting tighter. In deep blue Arlington, Democrats kicked off a canvas for Arlington County Board candidate JD Spain in one of many canvass events in Northern Virginia. The 1 p.m. canvas time coincided with the first 1 p.m. Sunday kickoffs of the NFL season. Still at least 30 volunteers joined the effort and Congressman Don Beyer was on hand for the launch.
Though the Trump campaign indicated last week that Virginia will not be a point of focus, nearby North Carolina remains in play. With the polling getting even tighter than it already was there could be another shift after the debate between Harris and Trump this Tuesday.
There are 58 days left until Election Day November 5 and only 12 days until early voting begins in Virginia.
