LITTLE LEADS. Small dollar leaders among Black candidates. π΅ Small dollar donations, defined as donations under $100, are what happens when your campaign has strong grassroots interest. Many candidates have decided not to take big money from any specific special interest. That effort typically requires more fundraising work to make up for the big donations that arenβt coming in. So much of politics are controlled by the machinery behind big money. The failure of several legislative efforts in Virginia to cap large donations reflects the control big donors have on our politics and the policies that are paid attention to locally and nationally. What is prioritized by elected officials usually traces back to the money.
Below are the current small dollar leaders among Black candidates for the House of Delegates in 2023. Former FBI and CIA agent Makya Little, who is running in HD19, is currently leading the pack.
