Last Saturday, Jan. 7: Dumfries Mayor Derrick Wood was sworn-in to begin his second term. “As the mayor of this great town, it is my responsibility to be a beacon of hope and positivity for our community. I am committed to shining a light on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, and to working together with all of you to create a brighter future for the Town of Dumfries,” Wood wrote on social media.

The families of the May 31, 2019 Virginia Beach massacre victims are looking for answers and justice. On Jan. 2, a laptop belonging to murderer DeWayne Craddock, apparently not initially discovered by police, was in the news after Del. Kelly Fowler announced possession of it.
