Rouse Focuses on #Education, Big Glenn Stumps for Adams on #Vets #SD07
🚩 December 30 is the last day to get your absentee ballot application to your local registrar's office.
🚩 Voters have until January 3, 2023 to register to vote or make any changes. 🚩 After that, eligible voters can register and vote using a provisional ballot.
The special election for Senate District 7 is on January 10, 2023.
TWELVE DAYS. 🏃🏾♂️ In 12 days the special election that will decide who will take the place of former State Senator and Rep-Elect Jen Kiggans will decide if the Virginia Senate will be 21-19 or 22-18. This is a big deal because an abortion vote at 21-19 colliding with a pro-choice Democrat in the Virginia Senate — Senator Joe Morrissey — means a tie vote and a Republican win via Lt. Governor Winsome Sears.
AARON ON EDUCATION. 🏃🏾♂️ Yesterday, Virginia Beach City Councilman Aaron Rouse (D) hosted a forum on education policy. Rouse spoke on the importance of public schools and support for teachers.
“If we want our students to have a chance at a bright future, we have to make the necessary investments in education,” Rouse said. On social media after the event, the Virginia Beach City Councilman emphasized specific policies such as: Raising teacher and staff pay, combating learning loss and modernizing school infrastructure.
Rouse has an early vote rally event on Dec. 31.
Rouse and Adams have to contend with holiday breaks, freezing weather and a condensed campaign schedule as they conduct one of the most important campaigns for a Virginia Senate seat in a while.
ADAMS ON VETS. 🏃🏾♂️ Yesterday Governor Glenn Younkgin and Republican nominee for Senate District 07 Kevin Adams, a Navy vet, spoke on issues impacting veterans.
Gov. Glenn Youngkin tweeted after the event what he said during it: On his first day, Kevin Adams will file the Veterans Promise Act that will create a guaranteed admissions program for VA’s veterans at our colleges and universities. Our veterans deserve a smooth transition to civilian life.
Before the main event featuring the announcement on the Veterans Promise Act, there was a breakfast.
Adams has a meet-and-greet event with Rep-Elect Kiggans tonight at 7 PM at Mission BBQ on Independence Blvd. in Virginia Beach.
