December 7th: MEET OUR MOMENT Moment Training Session
On Sept. 23, MEET OUR MOMENT ☀️ APPLY HERE announced their sixth training session which will take place on December 7th in Richmond, Va. MEET OUR MOMENT is a “grassroots collective, spearheaded by Delegate Jay Jones that aims to, “recruit and train Democrats to run for and win state and local offices by providing them with the necessary tools and resources.”
“The energy to elect @KamalaHarris is inspiring prospective candidates at every level and we’re ready to pitch in,” their Sept. 23 release further stated. APPLY HERE.
Democrats have seen an impressive spike in activity and enthusiasm since the July announcement by President Biden that would lead to the historic entrance of Vice President Harris into the 2024 race for the White House. There are 37 days until Election Day. Early voting in Virginia began on Sept. 20.
Black Owned Businesses at Clarendon Day and Ocktoberfest
Black Virginia News took a look at the Black owned businesses in attendance at the annual Clarendon Day in Arlington and Oktoberfest in Alexandria on Sept. 28. There were several impressive local businesses displaying their products.

Seko Varner Creates Hampton Roads Green Book App
📲 On Sept. 1, Seko Varner announces the official launch of The Hampton Roads Greenbook. Varner is creating what he defines as a, “pioneering cell phone app and website resource directory designed to spotlight Black-owned businesses, professionals, and organizations throughout the Hampton Roads area.” The app will is available on Android and Apple app phones.
“The platform operates on a Freemium, offering free basic listings for Black-owned businesses, professionals, and organizations. Users can upgrade to paid listings, place advertisements, and share event information and articles. Additional features include links to job opportunities, health resources, support for those in abusive relationships, and other community services,” according to Varner’s Sept. 1 release.
