PODCAST 46 🎙️ Advice for Federal Workers. “If you're on the bubble and you haven't, this is the time to be tight. I mean, cut everything. Anything that you don't need as a necessity, it has to be cut. This is crisis time. I don't want to scare you, but certainly you have to tighten things up,” said financial guru and Washington Post personal finance columnist Michelle Singletary.
There have been several events in the VA/DC/MD area focused on assisting federal employees. Yesterday, Rep. Glenn Ivey (D-MD) hosted a large event in Greenbelt, MD. Next Saturday, March 8, Rep. Is LG Earle Sears Running in Maryland?
LG SEARS’ SUDDEN WES MOORE FIXATION. “I would recommend that she actually focus on Virginia and not use her 15 minutes of fame focusing on Maryland.”
The Governor’s race in Virginia finally gives voters a choice of more than one candidate on the GOP side as former Delegate Dave LaRock and former State Senator Amanda Chase entered the race this week against sitting Lt. Governor Winsome Earle Sears.
Just as the Lt. Governor finds competition it appears her attention has turned to another state: Maryland. Whether Sears is focused on Maryland because massive job loss in Virginia that could dismantle lives and the economy at the hands of Donald Trump is simply too hard to confront is unknown. For whatever reason, it feels like Sears wants to discuss Maryland.
What state is Sears running in? After recently switching consultants again, Lt. Gov. Earle-Sears is using an old tactic: Attacking a state that has a Democrat in the Governor’s mansion and using the phrase, “don’t Maryland my…” you know the rest. In this case the attack also involves a Black elected official attacking another Black elected official, as Maryland Governor Wes Moore is the only Black Governor in the U.S.
On Feb. 28, Maryland Governor Wes Moore announced an employment focused set of plans to assist federal workers. President Trump, members of his Administration and MAGA Republicans in Congress continue to attack federal workers.
“Federal Workers Don't Deserve Their Jobs Or Paychecks,” Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said on Feb. 26.
After indiscriminately firing thousands, dismantling USAID and other federal agencies, Virginia’s Governor Glenn Youngkin backed Trump’s plans.
“Let me just begin with the fact is that I don't believe that the federal government downsizing is wrong, and in fact, we need to press forward and drive efficiencies in our federal government, and as a result, in driving those efficiencies, I do expect that some Virginians will lose their jobs and that's why it's so important that we provide alternative, alternative opportunities for them,” — Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, Feb. 24, 2025, McLean, Virginia
Gov. Moore, who has one of the highest approval ratings of any Governor in the U.S., put focus on how the Trump Administration’s decisions may damage Maryland’s workforce and economy.
📹 At the very end of the press conference on Feb. 28, 2025, a reporter asked Gov. Moore about the constant references to Maryland by Virginia’s Lt. Governor Winsome Earle-Sears. His response is below:
