Loudoun NAACP Joins Paul Goldman in Voting Rights Lawsuit
In what may end the conversation over whether prominent Richmond attorney Paul Goldman has standing in court to compel new elections for
the Virginia House of Delegates this year, Goldman is now joined by Black litigants with the Loudoun NAACP.
Goldman’s next court date will be on Monday, March 21, 2022 in federal court on Broad Street. Judge David Novak will preside.
In a letter to the court, Loudoun NAACP Michelle Thomas, states that last year’s elections “suppressed the votes, diluted the voices and diminished the representation” of 637 branch members and thousands of African Americans living in Loudoun County. Full letter below.
Goldman’s lawsuit arrives after the 2021 elections were held under the old legislative maps because the 2020 CENSUS was delayed.
Yesterday the Democratic Party re-elected the same team that was in place in 2021 when Republicans won the Governor’s Mansion and took control of the House of Delegates. To date, the Virginia Democratic Party has had no comment on Goldman’s lawsuit.
