🌹 NORFOLK MOURNS LINWOOD FISHER. ➡️ Many in the community are mourning the death of Linwood Fisher. Fisher was Vice Chair for the 2nd Congressional District Democratic Committee. Many are deeply impacted by his loss. Funeral details to follow.

🌹 DR. E. RAY COX, SR. FUNERAL TODAY AT 11AM. Born January 10, 1941 in Greenville, NC to the late Clennie and Fannie Lee Cox. Dr. E. Ray Cox, Sr. grew up in the greater Greenville, Ayden communities. In 1970, he founded New Hope Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, Virginia and served as pastor for 52 years. In 1980, the first phase of the building program was completed and in 1996 the E. Ray Cox Sr. Convocation Center was completed under his leadership. Pastor Cox served the following churches: Phillipi Baptist Church, Simpson, NC from 1963 to 1964; Star of Zion Baptist Church, New Bern, NC from 1964-1967; First Lynnhaven Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, VA from 1968-1970. He was predeceased by one son, Keith Cox. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Maxine Mills Cox; a son, Ervin Jr.; stepson, Tony Mills, six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. 🙏🏽 Dr. Cox’s funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 25th at 11 a.m. all held at New Hope Baptist Church at 395 Old Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23454.
➡️ POLICE BODY CAM VIDEO OF TIMOTHY JOHNSON KILLING RELEASED. Police have released part of the body worn camera video related to the police shooting death of Timothy Johnson, 37, by Fairfax Police. Johnson was shot after allegedly shoplifting sunglasses at Tysons Mall. Several news outlets are reporting that the officer who shot Johnson will be fired. Officer James Sadler and Sgt. Wesley Shifflett chased Johnson on foot out of the mall and into a small wooded area about a quarter-mile away where Johnson was shot to death.
➡️ GREENBOOK 📗 GOV. YOUNGKIN SIGNS WARD/MULLIN BILL INTO LAW. “It is long overdue that we acknowledge the impacts and the creation of safe havens in this country for African Americans. The Green Book is a representation of creating a light amongst the darkness and I am glad that the Commonwealth is on the right side of history by acknowledging this important document in black history,” said Del. Jeion Ward in a statement to Black Virginia News on March 24.

➡️ VIRGINIA BEACH VOTING MEETING. Virginia Beach NAACP President Eric Majette , Gary McCollum , Georgia Allen and many others organized an emergency town hall on voting this week to keep the 10 to 1 voting system.
➡️ TINA VICK HOSTS “LET’S TALK PARENTING” in NEWPORT NEWS. Newport News City Councilwoman and Mayoral candidate Tina Vick held a forum focused on parenting this week.
➡️ J.D. SPAIN ENDORSED BY VOTE VETS. Former Arlington NAACP President J.D. Spain, who is running to win a seat on the Arlington County Board, was endorsed this week by VoteVets.
➡️ AIRD FUNDRAISER IN ALEXANDRIA. This week Angela Rowe, who had filed to run in Senate District 13 along with Senator Joe Morrissey and Lashrecse Aird, suspended her campaign. This is a likely boost for Aird’s campaign. On March 26, Aird has an event in Alexandria:
