Loudoun’s Attorney Critical of Sinclair Reporter in Statement
The issue of a trip to Africa by Loudoun Board of Supervisors Chair Phyllis Randall and three Black members of the Board is now one of the most analyzed government travel in all of Virginia. WJLA in Washington, DC, owned by Sinclair, a right-wing company that is buying media platforms and amplifying right-wing talking points, has amplified the trip of the Loudoun officials repeatedly.
In Aug. 2023, Loudoun Supervisor Mike Turner called the situation a “faux controversy” pushed by “a former member of the Trump Administration.” Turner was likely referring to WJLA’s Nick Minock.
On June 13, 2024, Loudoun County Public Schools Public Information Officer Dan Adams filed a 35 page complaint against WJLA and Minock with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) claiming the station reported disinformation.
“I have attached numerous accounts of stories and social media posts that are clearly and deliberately slanted and misleading to the community,” Adams wrote.
See the letter to the FCC below:
Loudoun is one of the wealthiest county’s in the U.S. with a median household income of $170,000.

The County Attorney for Loudoun County Government, Leo P. Rogers, issued the following statement regarding the erroneous report filed by WJLA-TV/Channel 7 reporter Nick Minock on July 3, 2024:
“WJLA reporter Nick Minock incorrectly reported that the Virginia State Police is investigating the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors regarding travel associated with the county’s sister city program. This is not correct. The police are not conducting an investigation. This is irresponsible reporting that misleads WJLA viewers.
I have reviewed the information provided to the Commonwealth’s Attorney in Loudoun County. The office received about a dozen emails and one letter that were encouraged to be sent to the Commonwealth’s Attorney by political activists. The emails are largely based on the misinformation included in Mr. Minock’s prior reporting.
The Commonwealth’s Attorney forwarded the emails he received to the Virginia State Police to assess the validity of the content of the emails. All expenditures by members of the Board and their staff for all travel have been made in accordance with the law and county policies and all travel and expenditures were conducted in a transparent manner. In fact, the chair’s travel was pre-approved on January 18, 2023, by an independent body, the Economic Development Authority. Additionally, the travel was publicly discussed at the 2023 State of the County address, the February 14, 2023, Finance/Government Operations and Economic Development Committee, and the February 21, 2023, Board of Supervisors meetings—all of which are in the county’s archives.
The travel was consistent will all policies and laws.”

Project 2025 Coordinator Who Has Kay Coles James’ Old Job Talks “Second American Revolution”
Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s former Secretary of the Commonwealth, Kay Coles James, served as the President of the Heritage Foundation from December 2017 to March 22, 2021. James was the first African-American and the first woman to serve as President of the Heritage Foundation.
The man who took over James’ former job at Heritage is the current President, Kevin Roberts. During an interview with former Virginia Congressman Dave Brat (guest hosting for for. Trump official Steve Bannon, who is incarcerated) on July 3, Kevin Roberts said:
“Let me speak about the radical left. You and I have both been parts of faculties and faculty senates and understand that the left has taken over our institutions. The reason that they are apoplectic right now, the reason that so many anchors on MSNBC, for example, are losing their minds daily is because our side is winning.
And so I come full circle in this response and just want to encourage you with some substance that we are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be,” Roberts said.
