Election Week Rebate Check Note Mentions Gov. Youngkin
With the Virginia General Assembly elections in seven days, it’s interesting to note that rebate checks are starting to arrive in the mailboxes of Virginia taxpayers right before Election Day. The $200 ($400 for couples) checks include a note, seen above, that mentions Governor Glenn Youngkin. Though he is not on the ballot the elections are in part a measure of his political power as he raises millions to fund the campaigns of GOP candidates and weighs a run for the presidency.
“The Commonwealth anticipates issuing most rebates by November 7th, eligible taxpayers will receive one-time tax rebates of up to $200 if they filed individually, and up to $400 if they filed jointly. To be eligible, taxpayers must file by November 1, 2023, and have had a 2022 tax liability,” an Oct. 24 Youngkin press release states.
Election Day is November 7.
