RICHARD STEWART🌹Petersburg historian and community leader Richard Stewart, who was the owner, operator and proprietor and Pocahontas Island Black History Museum, died on April 13. Stewart was 79 years old.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Mr. Richard A. Stewart. The honorary mayor of Pocahontas Island deeply loved his home and his city. Beloved and respected by so many, he leaves an indelible, unmatched, and inspiring legacy to the City of Petersburg, having contributed so much during his extraordinary lifetime,” announced the city of Petersburg last week.
