Hampton vs. Howard π 18 Photos of an Amazing #HBCU Event
HAMPTON, VA β ARMSTRONG STADIUM π£ THE BATTLE OF THE REAL HU! Hampton won the game 31-28. Hamptonβs Jadakis Bonds (#81) caught an unbelievable TD pass in the endzone and Hampton running back Darren Butts (#22) ran all the way down the field for a spectacular 75-yard TD. But the Bison did make it close in the end before heading back up north to DC.
Hampton Universityβs new President Darrell K. Williams, a 1983 graduate of Hampton, chats outside of the Presidentβs box with alums, dignitaries and the Hampton faithful. The only thing longer than Williamβs resume was the line at Mayfield Concessionare & Catering before the game. Williams is a retired U.S. Army three-star General.
ππ½ Hampton Universityβs former President, the legendary Dr. William Harvey, was at the game and greeted by many alumni, students and fans. President Harvey retired on June 30 after leading Hampton for 44 years.

Senator Locke and Fairfax share a laugh with one of the first Black chief airline pilots in history, Fairfaxβs father-in-law Sidney Clarke, right, who was an airline pilot for 42 years. In 1994, Clarke became the first African American chiefΒ pilotΒ for US Airways. Both Locke and Clarke have roots in Mississippi.
Businessman Gary McCollum, Fairfax and Hampton School Board Chairman Dr. Richard Mason. Mason is a Hampton alum. McCollum has launched a new PAC and announced several endorsements.
