Willie Hilliard: The evidence against Tavares Floyd is damning.
In the wake of stories on Richmond City Council candidate Tavares Floyd by Richmond Times Dispatch reporter Samuel Parker on questions related to fundraising and a claimed relationship to George Floyd, one of Tavares Floyd’s competitors posted last night on Medium.
Willie Hilliard, candidate for Richmond City Council: These reports suggest a years-long pattern of fraudulent behavior by Tavares Floyd. Since these reports, he has refused to address the substance and has only been combative with journalists. It now is self-evident that Tavares Floyd must drop out of the race.
Councilwoman Robertson’s silence on her former employee’s behavior is also concerning. Residents have informed me that years ago senior city officials asked her to terminate him. She declined.
Councilwoman Robertson must address these reports. She must help us understand his role in city hall and if there was any unethical behavior while he was in her office. The public has lost trust in City Council. Moments like this are exactly why.
Likewise, the Inspector General needs to investigate Tavares Floyd’s time employed as Ellen Robertson’s liaison.

Federal Judge to Youngkin, Virginia: Give Us Names of Voters You Removed from Rolls
A U.S. magistrate judge has ordered Virginia to give immigrant rights lawyers data on voters who have been removed from active rolls since Aug. 7, 2024.
Virginia was sued by the Department of Justice on Oct. 11, 2024, “to challenge a systematic state program aimed at removing voters from its election rolls too close to the Nov. 5 general election in violation of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA),” according to a DoJ press release.
The Court order, in part, reads:
Defendants are Ordered to provide, on a rolling basis, beginning now and with a completion date of Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at noon, the following information:
1. Individualized voter registration information for the registered voters Defendants have identified and removed from the official list of eligible voters on or after August 7, 2024.
2. Individualized voter registration information for voter registration applicants denied registration based on alleged non-citizenship on or after August 7, 2024.
3. The Virginia voter file snapshot for August 7, 2024.
4. The Virginia voter file snapshot for today, October 21, 2024. In all other respects, Plaintiffs’ Motion is DENIED without prejudice to their right to pursue additional discovery after the Court has authorized non-expedited discovery.
