Norfolk State Science Building Groundbreaking
On April 18, Norfolk State University celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for a state of the art science building. The building is scheduled to be completed in late 2027.
Norfolk State University is taking a step into the future of STEM education with the new $118 million science building. In collaboration with Work Program Architects (WPA), SmithGroup, and S.B. Ballard Construction, NSU will now have a 131,376-square-foot science hub designed for state of the art innovation.
“The New Science Building will be a space where our students can discover, innovate, and be inspired. It represents our commitment to building a future that supports our students, strengthens our university, and uplifts our community,” Norfolk State President Dr. Javaune Adams-Gaston told WAVY TV on April 18.

Michael Vick’s First Game as Norfolk State’s Coach
On April 19, former NFL phenom Michal Vick made his coaching debut at Dick Price Stadium. His first appearance on the sideline as head coach was met with loads of enthusiasm. Coach Vick, who is from Newport News, was surrounded by several other local sports stars who all came to Norfolk to show their support.
They included local basketball legend Allen Iverson of Hampton and NFL QB Tyrod Taylor, also from Hampton. Rep. Bobby Scott and State Senator Aaron Rouse were also in attendance.
