Dumfries Makes History with Virginia’s Only All Black City Council

U.S. Marine veteran and BBQ king Mayor Derrick Wood and the Dumfries City Council makes history. In Dumfries the pictures below tell the story of changing politics in Virginia and in the U.S. in general. With a record number of Black legislators entering the Virginia General Assembly in 2024 as a backdrop, the town of Dumfries is also making history with a Town Council featuring all Black members for the first time in the history of the Commonwealth.
