Dr. Taleshia Chandler: Much Loved First Lady of Cedar Street Baptist Laid to Rest in #Richmond
RICHMOND, VIRGINIA — 🕯 HONORING TALESHIA CHANDLER (1973-2022). An incredibly touching service celebrating and honoring the life of Taleshia Chandler took place on August 15, at Cedar Street Baptist Church in Richmond, Va.
🕯Chandler, affectionately called “Ms. C” by so many who knew her, died on August 3, 2022 after a years long battle with breast cancer. The funeral program was an uplifting celebration for a woman many knew and loved. The celebration included video tributes, including a musical performance on video by Chandler, moving personal tributes and stirring gospel performances by the Voices of Cedar Street, Jonathan Nelson and Lorraine Stancil.

Speaking at her funeral service were many friends and loved ones including her brother Lee Pearson, II, Rev. Akin Royal, Regional Vice President of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Dr. Rodney Walker, Pastor of First African Baptist in Richmond, former Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax, Dr. James King who is Pastor at Land of Promise Church in Fredericksburg, Pastor Dr. Vernon Walton of First Baptist Church of Vienna, and Pastor Dr. Jamal Bryant of New Birth Ministry Baptist Church in Stonecrest, Ga.
💝 Seen in the packed church were and endless number of visiting pastors from churches around Virginia and beyond such as Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley and Dr. Linda Stevens formally of Westwood Baptist Church. Richmond Del. Delores McQuinn and Sen. Joe Morrissey were also in attendance for the three hour long home-going celebration.
