Delegate Who Immediately Assumed Black Lt. Governor Guilty and Pushed for Impeachment to Serve as Courts of Justice Chair
Arlington Delegate Patrick Hope will serve as Chair of the Courts of the Justice Committee in the Virginia House of Delegates in 2024 and 2025. Del. Hope is next in line in seniority on the committee.
In 2019, with no evidence presented, Del. Hope called for the impeachment and resignation of then-Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax. Fairfax is Virginia’s second Black elected official in history after L. Douglas Wilder. Wilder served as Lt. Governor of Virginia from 1986 to 1990 and then was elected the first Black Governor in U.S. history in 1989. Fairfax served as Virginia’s Lt. Governor from 2018 to 2022.
