Del. Mike Jones Visits Red Onion Prison, Shares Findings

On Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, Delegate Mike Jones and his staffer Ceci Cain toured Red Onion State Prison. The visit was a surprise. The supermax prison in Wise County, Virginia has been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons. There have been numerous alleged incidents of inmates setting themselves on fire in protest of conditions and other problems related to abuse at the facility. Virginia Department of Corrections Director Chadwick Dotson has pushed back on stories that there are problems at the 750 person prison.
