Businessman and NFL Hall of Famer Bruce Smith Enters Petersburg Casino Efforts

NFL legend Bruce Smith is set to present a proposal for a resort casino in a city long ignored: Petersburg, Virginia

Businessman and community leader Bruce Smith will unveil his team’s plans to develop a Petersburg destination resort and casino on unday, April 14, from 2:00-4:00PM. Smith’s presentation will take place at a town hall at the Petersburg Public Library located at 201 West Washington Street.

Several out-of-state companies are also competing as casino projects continue to pop up all over Virginia. Although an effort to bring a casino to Richmond failed, nearby Petersburg has been viewed by many as a good fit for a casino resort complex.

“This isn’t about brick and mortar, this is about changing people’s lives and giving them a brighter future and looking forward to prosperity,” Smith, who has a real estate development company, said. Smith is partnering with Cordish, an entertainment development firm.
