APRIL 29. The Black Heritage Museum of Arlington Virginia is paying tribute to legendary civil rights activist Joan Trumpauer Mulholland, 81. The event will be held at the Black Heritage Museum Of Arlington 3045 B Columbia Pike in Arlington, Virginia on April 29th, 5:00- 7:00p.

Mulholland was active in the civil rights movement in the 1960s. She was one of the Freedom Riders arrested in Jackson, Mississippi in 1961, and was confined for two months in the maximum security unit of the Mississippi State Penitentiary. She was also a protester at the 1960 lunch counter sit-ins in Arlington, Va. and Jackson Mississippi in 1963. Mulholland is also the first white member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
