Attorney General Miyares Blocks Report on 2022 UVA Murders
AG DECLARES REPORT ON UVA MURDERS “CONFIDENTIAL.” On the evening of November 13, 2022, a mass shooting took place at the University of Virginia and three people were killed. They were Devin Chandler, a junior from Huntersville, North Carolina; D'Sean Perry, a junior from Miami, Florida; and Lavel Davis Jr., a junior from Dorchester, South Carolina. The three were also members of UVA’s football team.
Their killer was 22-year-old Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., who was charged with three counts of second-degree murder, as well as three counts of using a handgun in the commission of a felony.
At the direction of the Attorney General’s Office, the investigation into the mass shooting was outsourced to the Los Angeles-based law firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan. Miyares’ Assistant Attorney General Tyler Barnes refused a request by the Richmond Times-Dispatch to make the findings of the report open.
