24 #Photos: Women's Summit by Network NOVA Features Randall, Locke, Don Scott, Price and Glass #Virginia
NETWORK NOVA ➡️ WOMEN’S SUMMIT. Thousands attended the Women’s Summit in McLean on July 22 for an event that brought together activists, advocates, voters and elected officials. At this moment, months before the nation pays full attention to the 2024 presidential campaign, Democrats in Virginia are uniquely situated to execute a test run on what voters are focused on with the upcoming 2023 elections on November 7 in the Commonwealth of Virginia in 106 days
Participants at then Women’s Summit, which took place in Tysons, weren’t just listening to rousing speeches and taking photos with colleagues. There were numerous breakout sessions and workshops that covered all aspects of advocacy and activism from campaign fundraising to reparations.
Many of the breakout sessions featured frank discussions as all aspects of politics in Virginia and beyond were discussed — and where we are as a nation at this political moment. The threat to democracy brought on by Donald Trump and his supporters was never far out of the discussions. Challenges candidates are facing, even as fundraising records are being broken, include increasing threats from opponents and their supporters that include strategic misinformation and disinformation that media has been ineffective in confronting.
Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chair, Phyllis Randall, kicked off the speeches to loud applause at the Women’s Summit, which is in its seventh year and hosted by Network NOVA.
Attending the Summit were a number of candidates from across Virginia including Trish White-Boyd (SD04), Natan McKenzie (SD12), Myra Payne (SD19), Pam Garner (SD26), Bonita Anthony (HD92), Karen Keys-Gamarra (HD07), Leonard Lacy (HD64), Debra Gardner (HD76), Esther Nizer (HD34), Josh Cole (HD65), Charlena Jones (HD100), Rozia Henson (HD19) and Stephen Miller-Pitts (HD75).
Senator Mamie Locke, Leader Don Scott and Delegates Marcia Price (HD85), Michelle Maldonado (HD20), Jackie Glass (HD93) and Briana Sewell (HD25) also were in attendance.

Natan McKenzie is running for Virginia Senate against Glen Sturtevant, but State Senator Amanda Chase says she may launch a write-in campaign, which could give McKenzie an advantage.

A session run by the group Red, Wine, and Blue explained the value of 1-1 word of mouth discussion on politics in an age of misinformation and disinformation.
