Virginia House Dems Fundraising Lead
Yesterday, the Virginia House Democratic Caucus announced a fundraising lead over House Republicans of more than $1.1 million in the first quarter, more than seven times the GOP’s $156,048 haul.
The latest numbers reflect a bad sign for the Virginia GOP as President Trump’s approval numbers drop over the economy.
“Virginia House Republicans are terrified of losing in November—and they should be. Their agenda is out of step with Virginians, and no last-minute attempt to distance themselves from President Trump and Elon Musk will save them,” said Campaigns Chair Dan Helmer in a statement yesterday.
House Democratic Battleground challengers who out-raised their Republican opponents in the first four months of 2025 include Kim Pope Adams (HD-82), Elizabeth Guzman (HD-22), Lily Franklin (HD-41), Nicole Cole (HD-66), Leslie Mehta (HD-73) and Jessica Anderson (HD-71).
On top of the fundraising success of individual Virginia House candidates, Democrats have a leader, the Virginia Speaker of the House Don Scott, who has raised more than any other Speaker in Virginia’s history.
Norfolk: Former AG Mark Herring Endorses Norfolk Prosecutor Ramin Fatehi
Norfolk’s Commonwealth’s Attorney Ramin Fatehi posted this one Facebook on April 17: “I am proud to announce that my friend Mark Herring, the Democratic Attorney General of Virginia from 2014-2021, endorses my campaign for reelection. Mark joins my friends Congressman Bobby Scott and House Speaker Don Scott on my list of endorsers.”
The endorsement from former AG Herring matters because Fatehi is in a competitive race against John Butler. The former Attorney General is now a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.
